Wrapping paper is not just paper
It cannot be recycled and is nothing else but microplastics. The glitter pollutes oceans and ends up being ingested by animals which, over time, will collect in their stomachs and can be fatal.
According to an August report from Sundale Research, people in the U.S. spent a total of $12.7 billion on gift wrap, including wrapping paper, tissue paper and gift bags, in 2017. What a waste! This is stuff designed to be torn into shreds and tossed away in less than 60 seconds.
It’s time to do away with wrapping paper, once and for all!!
There are so many alternatives to traditional wrapping paper : recycled paper, dish clothes, pillow cases, craft paper, newspaper, old maps…and decorated with material offcuts, natural elements such as leaves or pinecones, etc. The possibilities are endless!
Here is some inspiration to get you started! Happy wrapping!!!
